Estaing

Previously a very big tree – now someone’s firewood for many years ahead.

Another simple roadside cross. Again with many small rocks and stones placed around and on top of it. We have yet to understand why this is done along the Camino in both France and Spain.

An old medieval but still functioning church along todays route.

Spring flowering tulips are often seen out in bloom along our route.

Approaching Estaing where the castle and cathedral overlook the  town.

Spring is in the air, bud burst is now over and trees are blossoming. Suddenly we’ve seen fruit trees flowering and barren tree limbs covered in green shoots as leaves unfurl. The locals have started their vegetable gardens early with the makings of a French green salad. Horticulture , is vegetable and fruit gardening is serious business in this part of France.
