We left Ferrol this morning after some of us attended mass at the cloistered convent nearby. It was a beautiful chapel for the nuns who are in a covered and enclosed order.
After that we then set off on our first days walk. But not before a bakery stop where Pauline loaded herself up with baguettes for our lunch. We had cold meat slices leftover from last nights ‘over catered for dinner’ to enjoy with these fresh baguettes.
Tempting Spanish pastries.
You put your right foot in – you put your right foot out – you put your right foot in and you shake it all about. This morning each of the group put our 10 right feet over the first Camino shell symbol laid on the road out of town to celebrate the start of the walk.
This modern art installation was a mystery to us all – including our 1 good Spanish speaker. Many monkey suits hanging off a fence outside a factory.
Enjoying our picnic lunch on the grass on day one.
After a good lunch – a sleep was needed!!!
A small Benedictine monastery along todays walk.
Enjoying waiting for the others to catch up.
Tapas and drinks at the local bar restaurant, the only one open on Sunday evening.
Dinner for 10 on Sunday evening.Good rustic food and local wine and the best English speaking company around! Tonight we sleep in a communal refugio.
