Sigueiro

Our second last day on tbe Camino Ingles and it’s raining yet again! Today our destination is Sigueiro.

We’ve enjoyed our Spanish breakfast and now it’s time to ready ourselves for the rainy day outside.

Not a lot of enthusiasm is on show by the 2 Helens.

image

Nor much eagerness by Geoff, Bill or Peter!

Bar’s versatile poncho was the most effective protection against todays wild elements – her kit remained dry. We all want to get one now.

image

It was a grey and dismal mid-morning – very uninspiring.

image

However we had some moments of sunshine along the way today so we stopped at this rock wall to bask in its warmth.

image

Not much further to go now so there’s a bit of a spring in our step.

Sheltering from the unexpected hail and rain in a bus shed.

Happily awaiting the end of the hailstorm.

Arriving at the pension bar this afternoon looking super wet and feeling very cold. Some of us needed a hot drink before going to our rooms.

image

So we enjoyed some coffee with a brandy! Again it was a ‘help yourself’ affair.

image

A late Spanish lunch at 3pm of tortilla and salad mixta and bread and wine of course!

Others enjoyed thick vegetable soup. – with bread and wine.

image

Our evening meal cost €8 each and was a true gastronomical delight.

Baby trout with bacon.

Bacalao (salted cod) – a traditional Spanish seafood dish

image

Spanish pork chops

High finance – sorting out the account.

As Kenny Rogers said so well, you’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, walk or run.

But we decided to pay because it was the best meal of the trip!

Very impressive! You must be mail persons! Rain, hail or sun ,nothing will divert you from THE WAY!

What a shame you have come to the end of the road. I was enjoying the journey and no blisters for me! Besides I have now just realised why none of my other comments ever posted. Can you start again?
