We arrived in DC after a stressful and frightening drive in a rental car from Newark . The traffic was horrendously heavy along the New Jersey turnpike making us question the merits of a US road trip in 2013!
We enjoyed dinner with Kristen at a charming book shop near the historic district of Dupont Circle.
And breakfast at a diner with a wide cross section of locals from inner urban DC.
Lunch in the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery courtyard after several hours coming up to speed on the American Civil War.
Saturday afternoon and the city was jumping to the music played by this big jazz band.
Little Ricky’s Cuban restaurant wasn’t open for dinner – he’d gone fishing!
So we settled for Mexican instead after pre-dinner drinks in a
typical American style loud and raucous bar.
A senior high school near Brookland clearly has to take safety into consideration! Only in America!
