The start of our 3 continents skiing trip

It’s taken some time to get our gear down to the 23kg limit for each of our ski bags – thankfully these large ski bags are on wheels! We’re excited to be going on our first overseas skiing trip to Whistler in Canada then Chamonoix in France and finally Hakuba in Japan. We’re hoping to downhill and classic cross country ski our way around the world.

Saying ta dah to Liam in Ainslie is a hard task- he’ll be 3 when we next see him as he and Mich are going to live in the outback this year.

At the end of our rental car trip to Sydney we travelled from Green Square to the city on a new train line to collect our Japan Rail passes.

Spent our last night happily in Kurnell with Aunty Rita, Peter, Jynene and Jenny enjoying some family time. Convinced them to cut the Christmas cake on 5th January – none too soon!

Gradually we’re all gathering in Vancouver. Tonight son Patrick and Alex joined us all for dinner at Nick and Megs apartment on the 36th floor overlooking downtown Vancouver and the harbour.

Poppy and Finn share happy time together.

Finn checked out alternative hobbies at a Vancouver bookshop yesterday.

Vancouver city and harbour view from 36th floor apartment we shared with Meg and Nick. The Rockies immediately behind the city show just a little snow.

Live king crab was for sale in a Chinatown supermarket however we declined this buying opportunity.

Poutinieries abound in Vancouver – it’s an acquired taste – essentially soggy chips and gravy. We resisted temptation!

Our first glimpse of snow seen on the road up to Whistler today en-route to the chalet we’ll be at for the next week.

It was a beautiful sunny but cold day at the top of Whistler.

Vic, Jane , Paul and Bill near the top of the mountain. So many runs to choose to ski down from the 150 that are open.

Such stunning scenery is to be seen along many of the runs here at Whistler Blackcomb.

Peter and Patrick relaxing with a few Whistler Powder Mountain Lagers after a good but hard days ski.

Not everyone skied each day. Pregnant women are excused!
