Chamonix is a charming French alpine ski resort with a small village atmosphere. Despite the late afternoon flat light, the snow and the ever present cold you see many people out for a promenade along the villages’ carless streets.
A carver is at work on this large slab of ice in the middle of the village. The Casino and massive snow covered French Alps are directly behind the carving.
Our apartment has a ‘to die for’ outlook directly onto the alps and it’s just a short stroll to the centre of the village.
Ice carvers continue their detailed work.
Je suis Charlie posters abound in the Chamonix village showing support for the cartoonists’ right to publish their views without fear.
