JAPAN – traveling to Hakuba

We’ve enjoyed many trips on the Shinkansen (bullet trains). The first one today was from Hiroshima to Osaka – followed by two others leading us ever closer to the ski fields of Hakuba. Japanese rail transport is always on time, so efficient and oh so clean!

In the big railway stations destinations are listed in English as well as Japanese. Very helpful for the rwo of us.

We had to take five trains from Hiroshima to Hakuba all up. As we got closer to the end of our days travel the snow got deeper on the rail tracks – even slowing down the last train as we approached Hakuba station.

This display shows the start of the mountains down which we would ski during the next week. There are many different resorts to choose from each day for skiing.

Japanese ski lodges come in many different styles and sizes. These were at Echoland – located just near our Black Pine Lodge.

The entrance to our lodge was well covered with a very large amount of snow – replenished regularly so it always looks white. There’s no dirty sludge here!

The outlook from our lodge is quite spectacular – even without the sun shining.
